Braden undertook both his undergraduate and postgraduate studies at The University of Auckland. He completed a Master in Public Health thesis in 2009 in economic evaluations in healthcare. His research integrated systems dynamic modelling and cost effectiveness analysis to examine the cost effectiveness of stroke units for treating acute stroke patients. During his post graduate studies Braden was working as a Research Associate with the Centre for Health Services Research and Policy, University of Auckland. Braden worked on a number of economic evaluations including work for the NZ Stroke Foundation, a project on cardiovascular risk assessment, economic modelling for Roche Diagnostics NZ and a cost effectiveness analysis of genotype guided dosing of Clopidogrel or Prasugrel for patients with acute coronary syndrome.
Braden is currently involved with two projects. He is a member of the steering group for the Traumatic Brain Injury project (BIONIC study), and will also be involved with the health economic aspects to the BIONIC and ARCOS studies.
